Margate Elementary School dedicated a new six-room classroom building, basketball court, and prekindergarten playground on November 15.
Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn, school board member Lori Alhadeff, and other school leaders attended the event.
Christina Bloomfield, assistant principal for Margate Elementary, stated that the school, built in 1961, was ready for improvements. “This new building and the new playground were things this school and the students really needed.”
A voter-approved SMART Bond program funded the new additions. According to Cathleen Brennon, spokesperson for Broward County Schools, approximately $9 million was allocated for campus-wide enhancements, including new roofing and decking, new aluminum walkways, and more.
Margate Elementary is located at 6300 NW 18 Street, Margate.
