Rosemurgy Properties is moving forward with the redevelopment of the former Carolina Club golf course.
The Broward County Planning Council approved the land-use change during an April 23 meeting. This will allow Rosemurgy, the developer, to move ahead with its plans to build 500 two-story townhomes and retail, restaurant, and park space, according to Commissioner Tommy Ruzzano.
During recent commission and planning meetings, residents have raised concerns about potential increases in traffic and soil contamination from pesticides used on the property.
The project must receive approval from the state and then the full Broward County Commission. It will then go before the Margate commission for final approval, according to Ruzzano.
