When Carlos Laboy discovered that he was selected for the second season of the dance reality show Mad House 2, his first reaction was disbelief. He thought it was a prank.
The production team emailed, requesting more dance videos for further review. Laboy submitted several clips, and to his astonishment, just two days later, he received confirmation that he had been chosen to participate in the show.
“At first, exhilaration coursed through me, but it was quickly overshadowed by anxiety,” Laboy said. “I could hardly fathom the chance to collaborate with the legendary Abby Lee Miller.”
Miller is a dance instructor, choreographer, studio owner, and television personality who appeared on the reality television show Dance Moms from 2011 to 2019.
Laboy owns the studio and is the director of the second-year Milani Dance Company and Studio in Margate. More than 40 young dancers joined Laboy’s new adventure at the start, which complicated his decision to fly out to Los Angeles in November for Mad House 2’s taping.
“I grappled with my decision to stay,” Laboy said. “I was deeply committed to my studio and my students and had just opened it—I didn’t want to abandon them. However, amid the whirlwind of emotions, I recognized that this opportunity could be a monumental step for my career. I knew I had to seize this moment and make a name for myself.”
Laboy joined Mad House 2, the second season of a reality TV show where Abby Lee Miller invites young adult dancers to live with her and compete for a spot on her team.
Production has officially announced that the show will premiere on February 27 on Brandon TV, with new episodes released every Thursday thereafter. The exact number of episodes is yet to be confirmed. Plans are in the works for a watch party for the dancers at Milani Dance Studio.

Laboy was surprised at the high level of support he received from his students.
“Not only is Mr. Carlos an amazing dance teacher and studio director, but he is an insanely talented dancer, and I was so happy to find out that he would be a part of Abby’s Lee Millers “Mad House,” said 13-year-old captain and Parkland resident Madison Reidlinger.
For Laboy, filming in Los Angeles was an “unforgettable experience that surpassed all my expectations.”
While he’d appeared on the news before, this marked his first opportunity to work on a TV show. Despite the demanding 12-hour filming days, Laboy embraced every moment and made lasting memories.
“The production crew was exceptional, and we forged a remarkable bond with everyone on set, creating a genuine sense of family,” he said. “This experience not only strengthened the camaraderie among the cast but also highlighted the exciting challenges of healthy competition.”
He formed a strong bond with Donovan Diaz, the only other Latino on set, sharing TikToks and teaching stories. Each day was a complete mystery. They had no idea who might get eliminated or what challenges awaited.
“The constant uncertainty made each moment tense,” Laboy said. “I wasn’t excited for any of the days ahead because the nerves were always there.”
Laboy was impressed – but not surprised – by Abby Lee Miller’s dedication and intensity on set.
“While she maintains a strict demeanor, her warmth and genuine care shine through,” Laboy said. “I had the opportunity to engage in several impactful conversations with her about my studio and life in general. It’s evident that she deeply values her students and is dedicated to everyone’s success around her.”
Laboy’s primary goal is for his parents to feel confident that their child will receive exceptional guidance in becoming a remarkable dancer. He hopes Mad House 2 will add to his mission.

“I’m truly excited about the potential this show has to elevate Milani and Dance Company Studio,” Laboy said. “This show is not just an opportunity; it’s a gateway for aspiring dancers to discover our studio.”
Viewers can watch Mad House 2 on Brandon TV at its launch on Thursday, Feb. 27; download the Brandon TV app on your Smart TV or Smartphone. A new episode will launch every Thursday. The exact number of episodes has yet to be confirmed.
