Margate personnel who are not represented by a union will be receiving a pay increase.
During the August 20 meeting, the commission approved a four percent cost-of-living adjustment for the period from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026, for all non-bargained personnel.
Some residents commented that non-union personnel, including highly paid administrators, should not receive a pay raise, and that the pay increase should instead be allocated to police officers and firefighters. The point was made that many of the personnel who will get pay raises are working in lower-level and lower-paid jobs but are not union members.
Also, the commission approved the interlocal agreement between the city and the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) regarding the adjustment of the Tax Increment Fund (TIF) deposit from 95 percent to 80 percent of the statutory increment revenues.
The commission and the CRA board have determined that the interlocal agreement serves a municipal and public purpose and is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the city’s residents and businesses, according to city information.
