First the city that set up our Safe Neighborhood District let us down, then BSO let us down, and now our very own city commissioner let us down.
Does anyone want to see the WNID succeed?
It seems like the City of Tamarac wants to see it quietly fade away, and our very own city commissioner doesn’t have the fight in her to push it forward on our behalf.
The WNID needed to fund a study by a professional who could provide a redevelopment plan for the Woodlands. Problem was, the WNID didn’t have the $30,000. A resident suggested that the WNID board use Law Enforcement Trust Funds to pay for it.
Tamarac has $318,929.00 in State and Federal dollars in the fund which come from the proceeds of seized contraband used in the commission of felonies. Using these money for Safe Neighborhood Districts is one of the purposes of the fund.
Here is Captain Glassman’s letter to the WNID in which he would not recommend giving any funds to the WNID because they want to use them for something that would benefit the whole city. Click to make larger.
If Glassman says that crime is down so much, then why are Woodlands residents paying BSO $220,000 a year for a roving patrol on top of the coverage our tax dollars pay for?
Have an emergency? BSO recommends you call 911, not the roving patrol anyway. We should fire the roving patrol and demand more taxpayer-covered patrol coverage in the Woodlands.
After all, we are paying for it.
