
Monarch and North Broward Prep Baseball. {954 Preps}
A pair of High School baseball teams competed in tournaments this past week as the regular season ramps up.
Monarch High School dropped its first two games of the BCAA Championship, losing 14-0 against Pembroke Pines Charter and 19-2 against Everglades High School. However, it responded with a 14-8 win in its final game against McArthur High School.
Juan Londano pitched five strong innings, allowing only one earned run before handing the ball off to Van Maxwell. Londano also drove in four runs, while Jacob Weiner and Noel Soledispa knocked in two. Kyle Jensen, Anthony Mercado, and Maxwell played one to help the Knights win their third game.
North Broward Prep played in the Perfect Game High School Showdown and went 3-1. They recorded wins against Gardendale, DeSoto Central, and Huntsville High School, outscoring their opponents 27-10 in their victories. Their only loss came against Parkview High School, 4-0.
Logan Bristol earned the win in the first game with 4.1 innings. He did not allow an earned run before Kieran O’Neil shut the foot. Nate Hernandez pitched well in game two, and Julian Rodriguez came in to record the win out of the bullpen, while Josiah Haslem was the winning pitcher in the final game.
Offensively, NBP had nine players drive in runs, led by Adrian Rodriguez with five. O’Neil and Vincent Diaz each drove in two, while Max Burkholz played two. Adolfo Castro, Gabriel Goupet, Rodrigo Lithgow and Evan Stramanak had one.
The Eagles are 6-3 this year and will play Archbishop McCarthy High School in their next game on Tuesday, March 4, at 6:30 p.m. The Mavericks are 2-5 this year but beat NBP 5-2 in their only game last year.
