Woodlands residents who have homes that border NW 64th Ave may be interested in knowing how a few years ago, the City of Tamarac declined Lauderhill’s request to annex the East side of NW 64th Ave so they could build a wall and landscape it, matching the other side of their well-maintained street.
A senior ranking Lauderhill official has informed me that a few years back under our former mayor, commissioner and city manager, Lauderhill proposed annexing the strip of land on NW 64th Ave that borders Sections Two, Three and Eight. The proposal was to give the City of Tamarac $100,000 for the land, which would be annexed into the City of Lauderhill and thus maintained by them in the future.
According to the official, the former city manager and mayor did not want to lose this land and nixed the proposal.
The City of Tamarac, which mows the grass along the street, has done nothing to beautify this street, unlike the other side which has beautiful landscaping created by the City of Lauderhill.
Currently the corner of 64th Ave and Commercial, which is on the corner of the Woodlands Country Club is a mess of weeds, overgrown bushes and advertising signs.
Unfortunately, the deal is off now because the City of Lauderhill no longer has the funds.
