Rob Reiner during his campaign for commissioner. {Al Cerchione}
By Jill Cerchione
Our community has lost a remarkable man—someone whose generosity, kindness, and tireless efforts have left a lasting imprint on the lives of so many.
Rob Reiner, 67, who recently died of cancer, wasn’t just an incredible friend; he was a husband, a father, a mentor, and a champion for everyone who crossed his path.
Whenever there was a need, Rob was there. If someone needed food, transportation, or simply a helping hand, Rob was the first to step in. He didn’t hesitate, never looked for recognition—he just acted.
Whether it was organizing toy and food drives, or giving selflessly of his time and resources, Rob’s commitment to the well-being of others was unwavering.
His generosity wasn’t just financial; it was a generosity of spirit. Rob believed in lifting others up, ensuring that no one felt forgotten or alone. He knew that change starts with care, and he embodied that every day. His efforts weren’t just about providing for immediate needs, but about fostering a sense of community—a reminder that we are all in this together.
Rob was also driven by a desire to do even more. As he ran for city commissioner, his vision was clear: a city where everyone had a voice, where every resident felt supported, and where kindness was the foundation of all decisions. His passion for serving others was contagious, and it inspired many to give, to act, and to care just a little bit more.
Though Rob is no longer with us, his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. We will carry forward his spirit of compassion, his drive to make a difference, and his belief in the power of community.
Rob Reiner was more than a neighbor; he was the heart of our city. And while we mourn his loss, we will also celebrate the incredible impact he made—and continue to make—in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Rest in peace, Rob. Your love for our city, your friendship, and your boundless kindness will never be forgotten.
Rob leaves behind a wife, Eveline, and four children, Kyle, Khalil, Eric, and Tara.
