The City of Tamarac wants you! They are now accepting applications for the 2012 Class of Tamarac University (TU)
Now in its sixth year, TU is the perfect opportunity to get to know more about Tamarac, “The City for Your Life! Would you like to know how your City government works? How about how the City’s budget is developed; the relationship between the City Manager and City Commission; or the responsibilities of departments such as Community Development, Building, and more?
TU was created to answer all of these questions and many, many more.
Since its inaugural class in 2007, TU has been an overwhelming success — with over 120 graduates so far! The primary function of TU is as a citizens’ academy where residents and representatives of the business community can improve not only their understanding of local government, but also their role in local government.
Upon completion of the interactive multi-week program, graduates become ambassadors of the City within their neighborhoods, clubhouses, and circle of friends. In fact, many graduates go on to serve the City on advisory boards and committees and even, in two instances, serve on the City Commission! (Note from Editor: the city doesn’t include writing for Tamarac Talk)
