We’re not called “The Woodlands” for nothing as our community is full of every type of critter that’s native to Florida.
Now we can add coyotes to our long list of animal sightings.
Section Eight Resident Richard Tomaszewski wants residents to know that he saw an adult coyote on NW 64th Avenue at 5:38 AM Thursday.
“The first sighting I witnessed was on Halloween. It has been leaving piles of scat ever since. Then on Christmas, three members of my family saw it. It must have a den somewhere behind 4603-4605 Norfolk Island Pine Drive here in The Woodlands.”
Tomaszewski said that he had contacted every Broward County animal agency. However, no one will remove it.
“It would have to be shot by a nuisance animal remover at a very expensive cost of somewhere between $600-$1000 depending on how long it takes to find.”
He believes that it is a danger to small animals such as cats and small dogs. It also could be keeping a basic diet of fruits and small rodents.  Tomaszewski says the coyote seems to avoid human contact and does not appear to be rabid. He describes it as having mottled brown-grey fur and is about the size of a lanky German Shepherd.
