North Broward Prep had a busy week, with the playoffs coming for all their fall teams.
Football
North Broward Prep had a pair of football teams in action this week, with the varsity team facing Calvary Christian Academy and the middle school team competing in a championship game in flag football.
The varsity team dropped their third straight on Thursday, losing 43-21 against Calvary Christian. The Eagles will play Coral Springs Charter in their next game on Friday, October 20. The Panthers began the season 0-3 but have won their last three games. However, NBP won 54-32 in their matchup last year. The Middle School team had an incredible season but fell in the Championship Game.
Volleyball
The girls volleyball team is set for the District Tournament following their win over Coral Springs Charter on October 9. The Eagles won 25-19, 25-23. 25-9 to improve their record to 12-4. They are set to face Dreyfoos School of the Arts in the first round of the District Tournament.
The Eagles are the third seed, while the Jaguars come into the game with a record of 13-4. The winner of this game will play either American Heritage or Somerset Academy. Calvary Christian Academy is the top seed on the other side of the bracket.
Cross Country
The cross-country team competed at Tradewind Parks in Coconut Creek for the 2023 City Championship, with three teams competing. Eric Levy recorded the top time for North Broward Prep, placing 12th at 18:30.7. Noah Rivers finished 28th while all placed within four spots of each other.
Dakota Miller and Bryce Meacham rounded out the race for the boys team, who finished in sixth. Seventh grader Sloan Munoz led the girls team, coming in 15th place at 25:10.7. Madison Pavon and Lucia Casacci came in the top 20, with Elise Pluta, Cecilia Burdic, and Briley Rebello all finishing together. Ellie Garcia and Morgan Block also contributed, with the team placing fourth.
Golf
The boys team tied for seventh in the 2023 Wolverine Classic in golf. Cruz Allegianis finished tied for seventh individually, shooting a 72. Mac Lobdell placed second on the Eagles with a 70, while Cooper Roth and Vimyr Mangual posted 83’s. Max Gressle also shot an 84 for NBP.
The girls team fell in their match against Pembroke Pines Charter on October 10. Mariana Herrero scored lowest, followed by Maya Helene, Sarina Dobrin, and Reese Isaacs. Head Coach Mike Richards was named the 2023 South Florida PGA Section Player Development Award.
Hockey
The hockey team is 1-0 this year and is set to play their second game of the season on Saturday, October 14. The Eagles have won the last two State Championships and beat Marjory Stoneman Douglas in their first game 6-2 on October 2.
