Monarch High School has officially hired Liam Burns as the new varsity baseball coach, replacing Mike Ramaglia.
Burns, who is from Massachusetts and teaches elementary physical education, says he is extremely honored and humbled to be named Head Coach at Monarch.
“The local community boasts a bountiful amount of talented student-athletes that I am very much looking forward to working with,” Burns said. “ We will work as a family to improve in and out of the classroom as well as on and off the field. The future is bright at the Castle.”
Burns played baseball for over 20 years and then got into coaching. He started as the varsity bench coach and Junior varsity head coach at Sanborn Regional High School from 2020-2022 before moving to Florida. Burns then was at Royal Palm Beach High School and is also the Assistant Head Coach of the Boca Raton Blazers in the South Florida Collegiate Baseball League (SFCBL).
In his first year as coach, he hopes to change the culture to a more disciplined, team-centered dynamic with Student-athletes who play hard, respect the game, and have fun.
“I’m looking for my players to be detail-oriented and dedicated to their craft, all the while focusing on their academics and striving for personal goals in the classroom,” Burns added.
Monarch is coming off their first losing season since 2018 after going 9-11. They were last in Regionals in 2022 and had several seniors graduate last year and move on to play college baseball.
