Monarch and Coconut Creek Volleyball Host Senior Night; 2 Teams Face-Off in District Championship

Not only did Monarch and Coconut Creek High School flag football teams face off in the District Tournament in flag football, but the two schools saw held several senior days over the past week. 

Despite falling in their matchup against Coconut CreekMonarch got their revenge with a 13-0 win over the Cougars. 

Both teams also recognized their seniors, with Janiah Eliassiant, Christie Boisrond, and Shombria Mitchell getting recognized for the Knights with Taylor Dorsett, Yachell Dawkins, and Special Pitts honored for the Cougars, who finished the season with a record of 3-4. Monarch ended up falling to Blanche Ely High in the District Semifinals. 

Monarch’s boys’ volleyball has established itself as one of the best teams in Broward County this year, with a perfect 9-0 record. The Knights recorded an exciting four-set win on Senior Night against arch-rival Coconut Creek High School while honoring Gavin Valencia, Yahonatan Vahnish, Javier Gonzalez, Hunter Gray, and Jonathan Fuller. 

Monarch followed that up with a win over Deerfield Beach High School to finish the regular season 9-0. 

The Coconut Creek volleyball team recorded their fifth win of the season with a victory on Senior Night over Nova High School. 

The Cougars honored Mark Silvera, Micah Williams, Thyrone Jaggon, Neytam Rivera, Rhyeem Jones, and Darren Dowdell. They will play two more regular season games against McArthur and Franklin Academy. 

The Monarch softball team held the final Senior Day with their most dominant win of the season. They beat Deerfield Beach 22-0, with Mia Macaione, Elena Ramirez, and Sarah Phipps all pitching hitless innings. Grace West homered and had two RBIs, while ten players all drove in runs, including three from Macaione. Sammie Rice, Elena Ramirez, and West knocked in two, with Camryn Piskun, Makenzie Foster, Emeysyn Clark, and Sara Connor bringing in one. 

They fell in their next game to the top team in the State in Coral Springs Charter and will play Boyton Beach Somerset in their next game on Monday at 4 p.m.
