Mayor Antonio Arserio {David Volz}
Mayor Antonio Areserio has announced he will seek another term on the Margate commission and is running for Seat 3.
Because the commission chooses the city’s mayor and vice-mayor, Arserio will not run for mayor.
Arserio kicked off his re-election campaign on February 25 with an event at Jasmine Thai & Sushi in Margate, attended by supporters and community leaders.
“My goals include taking care of our law enforcement and public safety professionals. I want to continue supporting them and giving them the tools they need,” adding that he wants to improve infrastructure. “I believe it is important we develop our downtown so that we have a good mix of stores, restaurants, and residential,” said Arserio.
Arserio said about 100 people attended the event, and around $15,000 was raised. The unofficial campaign total is nearly $75,000, according to Arserio.
On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Margate will hold a general election for Seats 3 and 5, which are four-year terms. The qualifying period for candidates is noon, Monday, June 8, to noon, Friday, June 12, 2026. Commissioner Joanne Simone holds Seat 5, according to the Margate website.
