The Margate Spring Fling, also known as the Spring Fair, will return to 1000 North State Road 7 from March 14 to 30.
The popular event will include traditional fair rides such as the Cyclone, Drop Tower, the Music Express, the Big Swing Ride, Ferris Wheels, carousels, bumper cars, kiddie coasters, and more.
Entertainment includes the circus troop Cirque Hollywood, which will present gymnastics and carnival games. According to the fair’s website, traditional fair food such as corn dogs, funnel cakes, cotton candy, and fried Oreos will be available.
On March 17, it will be Margate Monday, where all Margate residents will receive a Free Unlimited Ride bracelet for each one they purchase.
During the March 5 meeting, the commission agreed to a resolution approving a temporary use permit for Hildebrand Amusement Rides for permission to hold the event.
Several residents raised questions about noise later at night, and Mayor Arlene Schwartz asked that the fair close earlier on school nights. The operator promised to lower the volume later in the evening.
In addition, unlike in past years, there will be no animal acts at this fair.
In response to questions about rowdiness at the fair, Commissioner Anthony Caggiano asked the police and fire chief if there had been any major incidents in recent fairs. They could not remember any, although Margate Talk reported an alleged kidnapping at last year’s fair.
The fair will be open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Fridays, 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturdays and 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays.
