
Margate-Coconut Creek Fire Rescue {Aiden Palmer}
Margate homeowners will see a $5 increase in their fire rescue fees.
During the July 8 meeting, a resolution was passed to raise the assessment per residential unit from $300 to $305.
Non-residential property rates are assessed per square foot: commercial is $0.38, industrial/warehouse is $0.05, institutional is $0.48, and nursing home is $0.72. For Fiscal Year 2026-2027, the estimated total assessed fire rescue cost is $10,473,965, according to city information.
During public comments on this item, several residents spoke about the need to raise the fire assessment even higher to properly fund fire rescue.
