Bryan Kristopher Clark {BSO}
A Margate man was arrested after police said he assaulted and falsely imprisoned a woman during a series of incidents tied to the victim seeing other men.
Magate Police Department arrest records show Bryan Kristopher Clark, 18, was taken into custody on February 4 at his home on the 6300 block of Southwest 2nd Street.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim told Margate police she and Clark had been in a dating relationship for approximately two weeks after meeting on Instagram.
The victim reported that on February 1, an argument broke out inside Clark’s bedroom after Clark accused her of communicating with another man. During the dispute, police say Clark took the victim’s phone from her purse and snapped it over his leg, then prevented the woman from leaving the bedroom, undressed her against her will, and pushed her onto his bed. She said she remained there for approximately three hours out of fear for her safety.
During the period of false imprisonment, the victim alleged that she would attempt to make Clark believe everything was OK before attempting to escape, but each time he placed her in a headlock, pressing his arm against her throat and restricting her breathing to the point where she felt lightheaded.
The victim told police she was unable to call for help because her phone had been destroyed. She eventually escaped after Clark calmed down, investigators said. She reportedly did not immediately report the incident due to fears of retaliation.
Police said a second incident occurred on February 3, when the two met at a park in Coral Springs to discuss their relationship. The victim reported that Clark again became mad, took her purse, refused to let her exit his vehicle, and drove her to multiple locations before returning to his residence. While there, Clark allegedly took her pepper spray keychain from her wallet before spraying her in the face for approximately two minutes.
The victim later called an Uber and reported the incidents to the police.
MPD officers visited Clark at his home, where he was taken and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
