A Margate man was arrested for pointing a laser beam at his neighbor while she was driving, alleging she was speeding through the neighborhood.
On January 6, the Margate Police Department responded to a neighborhood dispute. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, who reported that she had been driving northbound near the 3100 block of 51st Terrace when she was struck in the face with a green laser beam.
According to the report, the victim immediately believed it was her neighbor, identified in records as Steven Schueler, 49, of Margate, who pointed the laser beam directly at her eyes as she drove through the area.
Records show the victim told officers the laser temporarily impaired her vision to drive and caused her a headache.
After speaking with the victim, investigators interviewed Schueler, who admitted to pointing a laser pointer at the victim because he believed she was driving too fast through the neighborhood.
The laser pointer was seized and identified as a non-weapon laser lighting device.
Officers arrested Schueler and transported him to the Broward County Main Jail. He was later released after posting a $5,000 bond.
