Margate Police Arrest Woman Wanted in Puerto Rico Child Kidnapping Case

Margate Police arrested a woman wanted in Puerto Rico on child kidnapping and custody deprivation charges after authorities say she took her children to Florida and failed to return.

According to an arrest report, Margate Police Department officers took Sally Marie Biondo, 43, of Cabo Rojo, into custody on June 2 after learning she was the subject of an active Puerto Rico warrant related to a custody case involving her children.

Authorities in Puerto Rico had been searching for Biondo after she allegedly traveled from Cabo Rojo to Florida with her children for what was supposed to be a two-week vacation.

Investigators said she never returned and stopped all communication, prompting the children’s father to file a complaint with police in Cabo Rojo and Mayagüez. Puerto Rico authorities subsequently charged Biondo with illegal deprivation of custody, alleging she deprived the children’s father of his legal custody rights.

Following an investigation by the Sexual Crimes and Child Abuse Division of the Criminal Investigations Corps in Mayagüez, a judge found probable cause and issued an arrest warrant with bail set at $250,000.

According to the Margate Police report, officers responded to a residence in the 3200 block of Holiday Springs Boulevard after receiving a request from the U.S. Marshals Service. The officer made contact with Biondo and confirmed that she was wanted in Puerto Rico.

Police records indicate Biondo was arrested without incident and later transferred to the Broward Sheriff’s Office for processing.

Prior to the case, Biondo was known in Puerto Rico as an eco-friendly makeup artist and hairstylist operating in the Cabo Rojo area.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed the circumstances that led to the custody dispute or the current whereabouts and status of the children.

The case remains under investigation by Puerto Rico authorities.
