Two Teens Arrested After 100 MPH Multi-City Chase Across Broward

Two teens were arrested after Margate Police and BSO Aviation tracked them through a multi-city Broward chase involving two vehicles before they allegedly hid inside a Lauderhill home.

According to a Margate Police Department arrest report, Bernard Cornelius J. Hannah, 18, of Plantation, and Rahtavis Jordan McReed, 18, of Lauderhill, were arrested June 11 following a dangerous sequence of events that nearly turned tragic.

According to arrest reports, the incident began shortly after midnight when a Margate police officer spotted a car with an expired registration and heavily tinted windows traveling on West Atlantic Boulevard. Investigators said the driver abruptly changed lanes and attempted to evade a traffic stop.

Police allege Hannah was behind the wheel of the car and accelerated away after officers activated their emergency lights and sirens. Authorities said the vehicle reached speeds exceeding 100 mph, ran stop signs in residential neighborhoods where people were walking, and traveled across multiple jurisdictions while being monitored by the Broward Sheriff’s Office Aviation.

The pursuit ended near Oakwood Plaza in Hollywood when the car reportedly suffered a blown tire. Investigators say Hannah abandoned the vehicle and climbed into the back seat of another vehicle driven by McReed.

Authorities attempted to stop the car, but allege McReed was driving at high speeds, running red lights, and entering oncoming traffic, forcing many vehicles to take evasive action to avoid a head-on high-speed collision.

The car eventually arrived at a residence in the 3700 block of Northwest 8th Place in Lauderhill, where both men allegedly ran inside. Police said they initially ignored commands to come out before eventually being detained.

Police later linked McReed to a hit-and-run crash involving minor injuries on Stirling Road in Hollywood during the chase.

Both men were arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
