A Margate man has been arrested and charged with felony lewd battery after being discovered in the backseat of a car with a 12- to 16-year-old teen he allegedly met on Instagram.
On January 2, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies on a routine patrol discovered a man, later identified as Tyeeshawn Tucker, 20, of Margate, engaged in sexual activity with an underaged victim in a parked vehicle.
According to the report, at approximately 1:44 a.m., deputies observed a suspicious vehicle parked on the west side of a closed business at 2711 W Sunrise Boulevard. Upon approaching the car from the passenger side, deputies saw Tucker and the victim in the backseat.
Deputies instructed Tucker and the young girl to step out of the vehicle. As they did, deputies observed clothing items inside the car, including a pair of white panties on the seat where the victim had been sitting and gray boxers on the seat where Tucker was seated.
The report indicates that in addition to the physical evidence at play, Tucker and the victim seemed nervous and initially hesitant to explain their presence at the location. Deputies separated them to conduct individual interviews.
Arrest records show that the victim told law enforcement that she met Tucker on Instagram a month earlier and initially told him she was 17 years old, then later claimed she was 15 years old. Officers later discovered that the victim was only 13 years old.
The victim told deputies Tucker had picked her up at Roosevelt Gardens Park earlier that evening, after which they drove around before parking at the location where deputies later found them. The victim admitted that after moving to the backseat, the pair engaged in sexual acts.
After being read his Miranda rights, Tucker provided a similar story. He admitted to meeting the victim through Instagram, believing her to be 15 years old, and confessed to engaging in sexual acts with her in the backseat.
During questioning, the report Tucker acknowledged performing oral sex on the victim, receiving oral sex in return, and digitally penetrating the victim.
The victim’s mother, who was contacted during the investigation, expressed her intent to press charges against Tucker.
Tucker was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
