Kimaya McPherson has achieved the dream of starting her own business.
She founded Kimya McPherson Bridal Couture and now designs clothing for weddings and other special social events.
“I am a fashion designer, and I specialize in designing special occasion wear. I also do alterations for men and women,” said McPherson.
McPherson works with satin, silk, lace, and beads to make custom gowns for prom, quinceañera, and wedding dresses. She said she will sketch, custom-measure, and create clothing for people who are preparing for special occasions.
“I consider Margate a good starting point for my business ambitions,” said McPherson. “I am starting in a smaller town, and I want to expand. My goal is to become a global business.”
The business is located at 4900 W. Atlantic Boulevard. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., by appointment only. The business is closed on Monday.
