Margate Crime Blotter: Police Investigate Kidnapping, Burglary, Domestic Battery by Strangulation

The Margate Police Department responded to various incidents and made multiple arrests between May 19 and May 25, 2026.

Incidents

A burglary was reported in the 2400 block of Northwest 24th Court on May 20. The victim reported approximately $4,200 in losses.

A theft was reported at 400 North State Road 7 on May 20. The victim reported approximately $1,000 in losses.

A burglary of a structure was reported in the 500 block of Southwest 7th Street on May 20.

A theft was reported at 590 South State Road 7 on May 20. The victim reported approximately $300 in losses.

A pocket-picking theft was reported at 5562 West Sample Road on May 21. The victim reported approximately $530 in losses.

An aggravated battery was reported on Colonial Drive on May 22.

A kidnapping/false imprisonment incident was reported on South State Road 7 on May 23.

A fraud case was reported in the 7100 block of West Atlantic Boulevard on May 23. The victim reported approximately $170 in losses.

A fire was reported in the 6700 block of Coral Lake Drive on May 25.

Other Incidents

Police also responded to multiple domestic disturbances, suspicious incidents, Baker Act calls, batteries, found property reports, information reports, damage to property calls, a recovered stolen vehicle, hit-and-run crash, assault, elderly abuse investigations, warrant/pick-up orders, parole violation investigation, and miscellaneous incidents throughout the city during the reporting period.

Arrests

Jonathan Jamarcus Marshall, 22, was arrested on a charge of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance unarmed at 5450 West Atlantic Blvd. on May 19.

Joan Jose Ferrer Azuaje, 19, was arrested on a charge of weapon offense — missile into dwelling, vehicle, building, or aircraft — on South State Road 7 on May 20.

Thomas Jefferson Reed, 54, was arrested on a charge of battery-touch or strike on East Laurel Drive on May 20.

Christopher Wade Jackson, 25, was arrested on a charge of fleeing/eluding police with disregard for safety in Oakland Park on May 20.

Corey Allen Martin, 51, was arrested on charges of aggravated battery causing bodily harm/disability-domestic violence and touch or strike/battery-domestic violence on Colonial Drive on May 22.

Francisco Javier Rivas, 67, was arrested on a charge of kidnapping/false imprisonment of an adult or child under 13 years of age on South State Road 7 on May 23.

Kent Gary McGowan, 20, was arrested on a charge of battery-commit domestic battery by strangulation on Southwest 6th Place on May 23.
