The Margate Police Department responded to various incidents and made multiple arrests between January 6 and 12, 2026.

Incidents

Theft
Location: Southgate Boulevard (address withheld)
Details: An Amazon package valued at approximately $15 was stolen from a residence porch. Video surveillance shows a Black male wearing a black hat and black shorts taking the package on Nov. 16. Prosecution desired.

Theft of Bicycle
Location: 5909 Margate Blvd.
Details: A bicycle was reported stolen. The theft occurred on Jan. 4, 2026, at an unknown time and was reported later.

Criminal Mischief
Location: Frenchie’s Bike Shop, 2430 N. State Road 7
Details: A victim’s white Toyota Tundra was vandalized when an unknown subject threw a rock through the front passenger-side window, shattering the glass. The victim heard a loud pop and was alerted by his vehicle alarm.

Stolen Vehicle
Location: SW 56th Avenue (address withheld)
Details: A 2023 white Dodge Ram was stolen from a parking lot on Jan. 9 at approximately 4:34 a.m. Prosecution desired.

Stolen Vehicle
Location: State Road 7 (location withheld)
Details: A 2013 black Acura RDX was reported stolen between Jan. 9 at 5 p.m. and Jan. 10 at 6:30 a.m. Prosecution desired.

Theft
Location: NW 68th Avenue (address withheld)
Details: A bracelet valued at $17,000 and a necklace valued at $23,000 were reported stolen from the victim’s kitchen.

Domestic Battery (No Arrest)
Location: Rock Island Road (address withheld)
Details: Lawrence Winters allegedly slapped the victim in the face with the back of his hand. Winters was gone on arrival. A victim statement was completed and a Notice to Appear was issued.

Burglary of Conveyance
Location: Lakewood Circle (address withheld)
Details: Four Arlo cameras were stolen from the exterior of a residence, including two from inside a screened patio. The estimated loss was $350. A possible suspect was described as a middle-aged white male wearing a dark T-shirt and khaki shorts.

Burglary of Vehicle
Location: SW 2nd Court / The Meadows community
Details: Three Black male subjects wearing all black clothing were seen on video pulling car door handles and entering multiple vehicles around 1:30 a.m. Items stolen included $20 cash, bank cards, identification, and a wallet. Two victims wished to prosecute.

Location: 5642 W. Atlantic Blvd. (bus stop)
Details: An unknown male stole a black backpack containing documents and medication. The theft occurred around 7 a.m. on Jan. 11.

Location: Walmart, 5555 W. Atlantic Blvd.
Arrested: Mark Burgas, 34
Details: Burgas stole $288 in merchandise and fled on foot before being detained near Miami Subs.

Warrant Arrest
Location: 6945 NW 29th Court
Arrested: Michael Erskine
Details: Erskine lost consciousness due to a suspected drug overdose and admitted to having a warrant, which was confirmed for violation of pretrial services.

Traffic Arrest / Resisting Without Violence
Location: 5500 W. Atlantic Blvd.
Arrested: Giovanni Claudio, 19
Details: Claudio was stopped for operating an electric dirt bike without a rear light, attempted to flee, and struck a vehicle stopped at a red light.

Drug Arrest / Warrants
Location: 1900 Banks Road
Arrested: Michael Audain, 29
Details: Audain was found to have two active warrants and approximately 35 grams of cannabis during a traffic stop.

Violation of Probation / Resisting Without Violence
Location: 5600 SW 8th St.
Arrested: Jonathan Squire, 32
Details: Squire was found inside a city park that was closed to the public, refused to identify himself, resisted officers, and was later confirmed to be on probation.

Drug Paraphernalia / Habitual Traffic Offender / Driving While License Suspended
Location: Walmart, 5555 W. Atlantic Blvd.
Details: Officers conducted a traffic stop after locating a vehicle with a stolen tag. The driver was taken into custody.

Arrested: Anna Pinsky-Rosen, 25
Details: Pinsky-Rosen was arrested on an active Broward warrant and found in possession of five Oxycodone pills and eight grams of cannabis.

Possession of Cocaine
Location: 2800 Banks Road
Arrested: Michael Durcan, 57
Details: Cocaine was located on Durcan following a traffic stop.

Location: Rock Island Road and Southgate Boulevard
Arrested: Gregory McComb, 57

Location: 605 N. State Road 7
Arrested: John Curtis, 19
Details: Curtis was arrested on felony warrants for grand theft auto and violation of felony probation for robbery.

Location: Walmart, 5555 W. Atlantic Blvd.
Arrested: Samuel Ojeda, 38
Details: Ojeda fled after shoplifting and was apprehended. He was transported to Northwest Medical Center before being turned over to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Arrested: Andrew McAvoy, 38
Details: McAvoy was observed exposing his sexual organs while standing in a victim’s front yard.

Arrested: John Ramos Gonzalez, 30
Details: Gonzalez changed price tags on children’s clothing and was released on a Notice to Appear.

Armed Burglary of a Dwelling / Grand Theft / Grand Theft of Firearm
Location: SW 1st Street (address withheld)
Arrested: Elijah Bailey-Gilyard, 18, and three juveniles
Details: Four suspects entered a residence multiple times, stealing gaming items and four firearms, including a loaded .40-caliber weapon.

Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer / Resisting with Violence
Location: SW 1st Street
Arrested: Courtney Taylor, 32
Details: Taylor interfered with officers during the burglary investigation and sustained a K-9 bite before being transported to Northwest Medical Center.

Location: CVS, 1200 N. State Road 7
Arrested: Stewart Chevelle Jones, 39
Details: Jones stole beer and fled on a bicycle before being located and positively identified.

Retail Theft (Multiple Stores)
Location: Marshalls and Ross
Arrested: Laporsha Mack, 34
Details: Mack was arrested after officers linked her to thefts at both stores. Items from Ross were found inside the vehicle following a theft at Marshalls. She was trespassed from both businesses.

Arrested: Nicholas Decapua, 60
