A man faces assault with a deadly weapon charges after holding a knife to the throat of a woman at Peppertree Plaza in Margate.
According to Margate Police Department arrest records, on May 27, officers responded to the plaza in response to a 911 call concerning an assault involving a man, later identified as Robert Glaser, 54, of Rivera Beach, who had a history of prior trespassing at the location.Â
According to witness statements detailed in the MPD’s report, Glaser was seen striking the victim multiple times and holding a silver blade with a black handle to her throat while making death threats.Â
One witness told officers that Glaser threatened the victim, saying, “I’m going to fucking kill you.” A secondary witness reported seeing him strike the victim in the back while making verbal threats.
When police arrived at the scene, Glaser was detained for further investigation. During a search of his belongings, officers discovered a knife matching the witness’s descriptions in a blue backpack’s side pocket.
Blood spatters consistent with spitting were observed on the sidewalk near the victim. MPD officers wrote in the report that upon discovery of the blood, they asked the victim to open her mouth, which revealed lacerations in her mouth and on her tongue.
Based on statements from multiple witnesses and the evidence collected at the scene, Glaser was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
