A late-night brawl between two couples escalated into a brutal beating that left two people hospitalized and led to the arrest of a man and a woman in Margate.
According to Margate Police Department records, two individuals, identified in the incident report as Victim 1 and Victim 2, reported meeting a couple at Briny Irish Pub the previous evening.Â
The victims told MPD the couple, later identified as Michael Larocca, 41, of Sarasota, and Taylor Quibodeaux, 24, of Pompano, accompanied Victim 1 and Victim 2 back to their home.
Once there, however, an argument between Larocca and Quibodeaux became so heated that the victims asked the couple to leave. This angered them, and they left the residence initially but returned shortly after.
The situation escalated quickly, with Quibodeaux yelling at Victim 2 before physically assaulting her.Â
The confrontation then escalated as Victim 1 intervened to separate them, but Larocca then joined in the fray, attacking Victim 1 and Victim 2 with punches and kicks.
According to medical records, the result of LaRocca’s attack was severe injuries to both victims. Â
Victim 2 sustained severe injuries, including multiple rib fractures, a clavicle fracture, and an orbital fracture.Â
Victim 1 suffered significant facial injuries, including a swollen right eye, bruising under the left eye, swelling on the lower jaw, and multiple facial scratches.
MPD records show that eyewitnesses from a nearby home confirmed the incident, and video evidence from the victims’ Ring doorbell depicted the entire fight, just as the victims detailed to police.
Given that Victim 2 is over 65, charges were further elevated to assault of an elderly person.Â
Larocca and Quibodeaux were both arrested near the 450 block of North Laurel Drive in Margate and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. They were both charged with two counts and held without bond.
