Get ready for an unforgettable evening as Margate gears up to host its most exciting National Night Out Against Crime yet.
According to the Margate police website, members of the Florida Panthers, Stanley Panther, Viktor E. Ratt, and the Ice Crew will participate in this year’s event.
Those who attend can meet the players, collect their autographs, take photos, and enjoy an evening with the Panthers.
Typically held annually on the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out is celebrated to enhance the relationship between residents and law enforcement.
This year, the city plans to exceed expectations and make the event the best ever. It will take place on Tuesday, August 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Margate Sports Complex located at 1695 Banks Road.
According to Vice Mayor Arlene Schwartz, Margate has had some impressive Night Out events. In previous years, there have been demonstrations of Blackhawk helicopters, K-9 unit demonstrations, and visits from other law enforcement agencies.
“This will put us over the top with a tremendous outpouring of law enforcement. It is an amazing event and will allow the police to promote awareness and community partnerships,” said Schwartz.
Margate police reported residents will receive free hot dogs, soft drinks, and ice cream from the department’s own ice cream truck. They will also witness K-9, SWAT, and a fire extraction demonstration.
According to Schwartz, the National Association of Town Watch honored the City of Margate with a national award for its Night Out festivities from 2004 to 2012 and in 2014 and 2015.
