A Margate club dedicated to the history of radio invites the community to ham it up together at an open-to-all dinner event.
The Gold Coast Amateur Radio Association (GCARA) is hosting its monthly club dinner on Sunday, August 20, at 7:00 p.m., at Wings Plus, located at 9880 West Sample Road.
Open to all community members, those interested in attending are not required to be a club member, but are asked to RSVP here to help ensure Wings Plus has an idea of how many guests to prepare for.
The GCARA, founded in 1969 by Charles Ritchie (known by his call sign W4BUG SK), has played an integral part in ensuring that South Florida’s ham radio community continues to have a place to reminisce about the history of radio.
What started as a club centered around technical challenges like amateur radio, VHF, UHF, and HF repeaters, has since grown into a diverse and multifaceted communication platform.
For more information about the event or how to become a member of the GCARA, visit the group’s Facebook page.
