City leaders celebrated the groundbreaking for the Legacy at Margate apartments on June 10.
The new project, located at 5229 Coconut Creek Parkway, will include four buildings, each with four stories, totaling 220 apartments. There will be 68 one-bedroom units, 120 two-bedroom apartments, and 32 three-bedroom units.
The project will include a two-story, 10,000-square-foot clubhouse, a large pool, a dog park, and landscaping. Construction is expected to begin in approximately two weeks, once all permitting is complete, and is anticipated to be completed by early 2027, according to Tom Cabrerizo, CEO of Legacy Residential Group.
“We are committed to Margate, and we have a high-quality residential complex with a beautiful clubhouse, a large swimming pool, and a nice dog park,” said Cabrerizo.
Members of the Margate Commission and city staff attended the event. Mayor Arlene Schwartz said the apartments will benefit the city. “I am happy that construction will begin, as we need these apartments,” she said.
Vice Mayor Antonio Arserio said he is glad that city staff and the developers were able to work together so construction could begin on the apartments. “It has taken us a long time, but we were able to bring everyone together so work could begin,” he said.
