ClubLink acquires Woodlands Country Club in Florida for $5 million

KING CITY, Ont. – Golf course operator ClubLink (TSX:CLK) said Thursday it has bought the 36-hole Woodlands Country Club in Tamarac, Fla., from its equity members for US$5 million.

The vendors will also get a ClubLink Gold-level membership.

Woodlands is 20 kilometres northwest of downtown Fort Lauderdale. It includes a country club with two 18-hole golf courses designed by Robert Van Hagge and Bruce Devlin, a practice facility, swimming pool, and tennis courts.

“The acquisition of Woodlands Country Club further solidifies southeast Florida for us,” president and CEO Rai Sahi said in a statement.

“ClubLink members now have convenient reciprocal play opportunities in two major centres in South Florida.”

ClubLink owns and operates eight 18-hole equivalent championship courses and two 18-hole equivalent academy courses at eight locations in Florida.

ClubLink is Canada’s largest owner and operator of golf clubs with 50.5 18-hole equivalent championship and six 18-hole equivalent academy courses at 42 locations, primarily in Ontario, Quebec and Florida. Shares in the company were down two cents at $6.90 in Thursday trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
