A woman was arrested for neglect after a neighbor found a distressed child crying near a residence without adult supervision.
On the morning of July 7, the Margate Police Department responded to a concerned resident who had discovered a crying young child wearing only a shirt and diapers walking around homes with no adult. Narmyode Mitcher Lamour, 27, arrived and acknowledged that the child was her son.
She explained to officers that she lived one house east of where the child was found and agreed to let officers inspect her residence.Â
Upon entry, officers were initially obstructed by a chair partially blocking the front door, which she said was intended to prevent the child from leaving the residence before she returned home from having blood work done.Â
Upon inspection of the home, officers confirmed that no one else was present inside the residence, indicating that Lamour had left the child unsupervised.
Lamour was taken into custody and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
The report indicates that upon her arrest, Child Protective Services were notified and will carry out its investigation to ensure the child’s ongoing safety and determine the appropriate course of action moving forward.
