A woman was arrested after allegedly attacking her boyfriend in a parking lot when he threw her marijuana joint off an apartment balcony.

According to a Margate Police Department arrest report, on October 6 officers responded to an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Pinewalk Drive North after multiple reports of a man and woman fighting in the parking lot.

According to the arrest report, officers spoke with a witness who said she had been inside her apartment when she heard yelling and screaming outside. When she went to investigate, she saw a woman pushing a man near a staircase. The witness told police the man did not attempt to fight back.

Officers identified the woman as Jada E. Gordon, 20, of Loxahatchee, who told investigators the confrontation began while she was standing on the balcony holding a rolled marijuana cigarette, which she described as a “joint.”

Gordon said her boyfriend had been playing a video game when he became angry, walked onto the balcony, grabbed the joint from her hand, and threw it over the railing onto the ground below.

The couple began arguing, and Gordon eventually went downstairs to retrieve the joint, according to the report, but couldn’t find it, which further angered her.

As the argument continued, Gordon told police her boyfriend became angry and began throwing her personal belongings, including a cellphone, outside their apartment.

Gordon admitted to investigators that she became upset and put her hands on him while they were outside.

During their investigation, officers observed scratches on the right side of the man’s chest, which they determined were consistent with being pushed or shoved by someone with long fingernails.

Gordon was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
