The tree butchers are back. You would have to be blind not to notice that a bunch of trees in the Woodlands have been hat-racked by some crazed maniac with a chainsaw.
FPL subcontractors don’t care how the trees are trimmed, they just want them away from the power lines and they will cut them into shapes that don’t exist in nature.
Why they do this is beyond me because the canopy is so far away from the power lines that they never seem to be a hindrance to them.
A few years ago when FPL did the same thing I contacted them and complained. They assured me they know what to do as they have been maintaining this area since 1953 which is complete horse poop because the Woodlands wasn’t even existence until the late 60s.
According to the the FPL spokesperson, they use “utility-qualified professional tree-trimming contractors….” which is hilarious because these so-called “contractors” seem more like chain saw-toting lawn boys that went rogue.
The country club has the option of removing and replacing these types of trees further from the power lines to prevent this awful hat racking job every few years, but they don’t and it looks like we’ll have to look at this for awhile.
