The City of Margate honored long-time residents Patricia and James Henderson. On April 17, they were honored for living in Margate for more than 50 years.
The Hendersons relocated to the city in 1973, leaving Pittsburgh behind. James, who had a background in computer systems, quickly secured a position in the local computer industry. Meanwhile, Patricia worked as an oncology nurse at South Florida Oncology from 1975 to 2020.
Their son, Jason, graduated from Coconut Creek High School and married Shelby. They have a granddaughter, Regan, a senior at Coral Springs High School and a member of the school’s softball team.
Patricia can remember when Margate was a much smaller city.
“I remember when State Road 7 was a two-lane road. Now, it is a six-lane road with a lot more traffic. I love Margate. People here are very friendly, and I have good relations with our neighbors. I can always ask someone for help,” she said.
Mayor Tommy Ruzzano thanked the Hendersons for living in the city for so long. They introduced their son Jason, Shelby, and Regan.
“The Hendersons are always ready to lend a helping hand and demonstrate what it means to be a great neighbor in Margate,” said Ruzzano, who presented the Hendersons with a plaque.
