This is a reply to Rich Zucchini’s Opinion: Margate’s Future at Risk. I realize that most residents are going about their daily lives without realizing the political clicks taking place on a daily basis. Rich’s opinions are only his own, and as the old saying goes, those who live in glass houses should not be casting stones.
So I noticed no negative comments about your commissioner employee or any special interest groups relating to red light cameras, open land with plans on major overwhelming development, elimination of green spaces, and anxious to start selling what is built in Margate by a small group of tightly knit REALTORS that live, work and have influence in weekly voting.
There are several candidates that could bring some fresh ideas to the future development of Margate’s open land, and they should be heard. In fact, it would be refreshing if any candidate who is up for re-election had some town meetings to make our residents aware of what they stand for.
Right now, I believe the only person who wears Margate on his sleeve, sometimes right or wrong, is the mayor. It just seems that not many people have the interests of Margate residents without strings attached.
