North Broward Prep remains on fire, with their basketball team making a run to the final of the Kruel Classic while their soccer teams continue to win and an All-American being named.

Taking on some of the best teams throughout the United States, the boys basketball team recorded wins against Milton High School (Georgia( and Corner Canyon High School (Utah) by an average of 13 points. Raul Perez Ruiz led the team with 25 points, nine rebounds, and five assists in the first game, while Pavel Djeric added 14 and Enrico Borio had 10.

The Eagles also had ten players score at least two points in their 73-61 win. In their second game, Perez-Ruiz scored 17 to lead the Eagles to a 56-42 victory, while Borio and Djeric combined for 25. NBP, though, went on to fall 62-59 in the final against Kell High School (Georgia).

The Eagles then played two more games in the Legacy Showcase Shootout on December 28-29, going 2-0 with wins over Valdosta 70-48 and Bishop Snyder 67-40.

NBP is now 11–2 this year and will play Wilson Academy in their next game on January 5 at 7 p.m. They come in with a record of 10-4 but lost by 15 in their last game.

The girls basketball team has won five straight games following 57-42 victories over Saint Andrew’s and Calvary Christian Academy. Ysamar Pimental scored a game-high 19 points in their victory over the Scots. Makena Longo and Alexis Schwarz combined for 32, while Ana Abelleira added 11 rebounds. NBP beat Calvary Christian Academy behind a solid second quarter, outscoring their opponent 20-13 before winning by 15.

The Eagles will return on January 9 against Coral Springs Charter at 7 p.m. The Panthers are 3-2 this year but lost 63-36 in their only meeting during the 2022-23 season.

NBP also continues to dominate in soccer, with both the boys and girls teams defeating Vero Beach High School on Tuesday. The boys won 3-0 and are now 9-0-1 this year, while the girl’s team beat Somerset Academy 4-0 behind goals from Ivory Edgecomb, Jayda Palumbo, Sumayah Brown, and Sofia Cifra Hallberg to move to 10-1-1. Both teams will play their next game against St. John Paul II Catholic on January 10, with the girls starting at 4 p.m. and the boys playing at 6 p.m

Riley Luft, a two-time State Champion with the baseball team, was named an All-American while playing travel baseball with CBU.

“It is an honor being named an All-American, and I couldn’t be more thankful for my coaches at CBU for letting me play for them this summer and my parents for taking me to all the summer ball tournaments throughout the years, Luft said. “It has been a fun and grateful travel ball ride.”

Luft will have one year left on the varsity baseball team before competing at Appalachian State. The Eagles will open their season on February 15 against South Broward High School.

The Eagles also had several student-athletes receive conference awards, highlighted by Truman Isac being named a Second Team All-Conference player after helping the football team win five games. The golf team also had a second-team All-Conference selection with Cruz Allegiance. Cooper Roth and Stella Edwards were named as Honorable Mentions along with Wills Gillis from the boys cross country team. Yasmin Marti, Destiny Wiggins, and Baylor Worley were the girls’ volleyball team’s Honorable Mentions.
