The Knights won 32-6 to move to 3-1 on the season. Samari Reed caught two touchdown passes from AJ Hairston and returned a kick for a score. “Great win and great team effort,” Head Coach Calvin Davis said. “I am very proud of the guys for coming out and starting fast and finishing strong.”

Washington, a senior from Monarch, is committed to playing college football at Albany State University.

“The commitment to Albany is a big step into my lifestyle, and I feel like the weight is lifted off my shoulders on having the right college to go to,” Washington said.

He began playing football when he was 12 for the Pompano Eagles. Washington is in his second year on the varsity team and helped lead the Knights to their second District Championship in school history last season. He says he hoped to find a school with a different scenery for college.

“For me, and I feel like the lifestyle up there would be a nice experience also due to the fact there recourses, and I’m in good condition as well, which will be a nice change,” Washington said.

Before heading to college, Washington hopes to improve his fundamentals by paying attention to how his opponent to his opponents operates. Off the field, he hopes to continue to mature and improve his communication.

“Great opportunity for Treyvon,” Davis added. “I am so proud of him and everything he has overcome to get this opportunity.”

Next, Monarch will play Marjory Stoneman Douglas in their next game. The Eagles are 0-3 this year and lost 20-14 in their only meeting last season.
