Mushu and Barkoncé {Broward County Animal Care}
Broward County Animal Care is spotlighting two special pups this week who are hoping their perfect families are just around the corner.
Mushu
Mushu, a 7-year-old Labrador Retriever mix, has been patiently waiting for a home for nearly nine months after he was found alone along Oakland Park Boulevard. Despite his long stay, this lovable dog has kept his spirits high.
Described by staff as sweet and cuddly with an exceptionally soft coat, Mushu is believed to be housetrained, as he always keeps his kennel clean. He also gets along well with other dogs, engaging in calm play during shelter playgroups.
Mushu is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He’s also sponsored by The Pet Project, meaning his adopter will receive free food, vaccines, and monthly preventatives for life—a perfect package for anyone ready to give this mellow companion a second chance.
Barkoncé
Barkoncé, a 3-year-old Bull Terrier mix, arrived at the shelter in May after being found as a stray in Pompano Beach. Initially timid and afraid of walks, she has slowly blossomed into a gentle, affectionate dog thanks to the care and trust of shelter staff.
Though still shy, Barkoncé loves going for walks, meeting new people, and curling up for cuddles with soft tail wags. She recently tested positive for heartworm and is seeking a foster or adoptive home where she can continue her treatment in a calm, loving environment. The shelter will provide the heartworm treatment at no cost.
Weighing just 40 pounds and low-energy, Barkoncé makes an ideal houseguest for anyone looking to add a sweet, easygoing dog to their life.
Adopt or Foster Today
Both dogs are available to meet at Broward County Animal Care, located at 2400 SW 42nd Street in Fort Lauderdale. All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, and microchipping. Adopters only pay a $25 fee for the Broward County Registration Tag.
