Margate property owners who want to make improvements can begin applying for the Property Improvement Grant Program (PIP) at 9 a.m. on February 9.
The PIP provides a 50% reimbursement grant of up to $50,000 for commercial or multi-family properties, common areas, and building exteriors owned by condominium or homeowner associations.
The program provides 50% reimbursement, up to $10,000, for improvements to single-family homes or individually owned multi-family homesteaded properties.
The reimbursement grant covers comprehensive fixed capital and other property improvements. The program aims to encourage property and business owners to restore, renovate, and improve their properties, thereby enhancing the area’s visual quality and attractiveness and increasing property values in Margate.
The PIP grant will reimburse the owner for eligible costs associated with exterior fixed improvements to the property. Minor interior work may be included in a comprehensive exterior renovation.
Items that may be considered eligible improvements under the PIP grant program: exterior painting and lighting, signage, landscaping, driveway Improvements and replacement, air-conditioning, roof repair and replacement, structural repair, concrete restoration, electrical work, plumbing, and fencing, according to city information.
