By Ryan Yousefi
A Margate man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and domestic battery by strangulation after an argument with his girlfriend led to him allegedly blooding and choking her until she lost consciousness.
On March 23, the Margate Police Department received an emergency domestic violence call from a victim claiming her boyfriend had beaten and strangled her until she passed out.
According to the police report, the victim stated she and her boyfriend, later identified as Michael Brant Parrish, 43, of Margate, had been arguing over money before he became physically violent.
The report states the victim told officers Parrish allegedly grabbed her by the throat and struck her in the face with a closed fist, causing a potentially broken nose and significant bleeding.
The victim said Parrish continued choking her, causing her to lose consciousness. Only after she eventually regained consciousness was she able to call 911.
The report showed when officers arrived, they observed the victim with multiple red marks on her neck, supporting her claim that Parrish choked her. Officers took photos of her injuries, and she received medical care.
After officers completed their investigation and took pictures of the victim’s injuries, they arrested Parrish and transported him to the Broward County Jail, where he was being held without bond.
