
Margate Police {Aiden Palmer}
The Margate Police Department responded to various incidents and made multiple arrests between November 4th and 10th, 2025.
Aggravated Battery and Firearm Offenses
Officers responded to NW 17th Court for a report of an injured male who stated that two suspects attempted to shoot him. Juvenile defendants Taylen Brown (DOB 02/08/2008) and Brian Contreras (DOB 09/02/2008) were apprehended after a short foot chase. Both were charged with two counts each of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon (firearm), possession of a firearm by a minor, and resisting arrest. While no firearms were recovered, 9mm ammunition was found on both juveniles.
Warrant Arrest
At 5000 W. Atlantic Blvd., officers arrested Andrew Vallejo Estrada (DOB 08/17/1996) on an active warrant for parole violation stemming from original charges of armed burglary, aggravated assault, resisting with violence, and felon in possession of a firearm. Estrada was transported to BSO Main Jail.
DUI and Firearm Recovery
At 1600 S. State Road 7, officers stopped a vehicle driven by Demetrius Cross (DOB 03/22/1992) for speeding and lane violations. Cross’s breath samples registered 0.155 and 0.161. A stolen Sig Sauer P238, reported stolen from Tampa in 2020, was recovered under the driver’s seat. Cross was charged with DUI and possession of a stolen firearm and taken to BSO Main Jail.
Driving While License Suspended
Olardine Shukurat was arrested at 150 N. State Road 7 for driving with a suspended license after being stopped for speeding 50 mph in a 30 mph zone.
Domestic Violence Arrest
At a residence on Ocean Drive, Philipp Saintilien was arrested after forcing himself onto the victim, striking her in the face during a physical altercation. He was charged with domestic battery and transported to BSO Main Jail.
Vehicle and Property Crimes
At 5365 W. Atlantic Blvd., a female suspect stole the passenger-side mirror from a company vehicle.
A female left a salon at 271 S. State Rd. 7 without paying for a $50 hair-coloring service, fleeing in a black Infiniti.
At 5555 W. Atlantic Blvd. (Walmart), Damon Nicholas (DOB 10/18/1973) was arrested for trespassing after warning.
At 7282 W. Atlantic Blvd. (Truist Bank), Joseph William Hafferty (DOB 12/17/1962) attempted to fraudulently withdraw more than $5,000 by impersonating an account holder from Pennsylvania. He was arrested and charged with grand theft and fraud.
At Walmart, 5555 W. Atlantic Blvd., Marlon Phillip (DOB 03/07/1976) and Gregory Turner (DOB 06/07/1983) were arrested for separate shoplifting incidents, with Turner apprehended after a short foot chase.
A 2015 silver Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 was stolen overnight from NW 58th Avenue between November 7 at 3 p.m. and November 8 at 3 a.m.
At JM Lexus, 5350 W. Sample Rd., suspect Jacob Goldwire punched a co-worker during a dispute. A NIC was filed for battery.
At Bath & Body Works, 5445 W. Atlantic Blvd., three females and two males stole $1,122.25 in merchandise before fleeing westbound in a silver Toyota Camry with a paper tag.
At Jesse’s Liquor Store, 5442 W. Atlantic Blvd., two female suspects stole a pack of Jose Cuervo mini bottles, a lighter, and THC-infused pre-rolls valued at $39.47 before fleeing on foot.
At Toscana Place, Zamari McKenley (DOB 12/10/2004) was arrested for burglary after being identified on Ring camera footage stealing an e-bike valued at approximately $1,200.
At 5400 W. Atlantic Blvd. (Lakewood Mall), Albert Albritton (DOB 01/18/1972) was arrested for trespassing after previously being warned in October.
At St. Vincent’s Church, 6350 NW 18th St., Alexander Cruz (DOB 03/14/1994) took a victim’s phone while it was charging. He later returned it, and the victim declined prosecution.
At 1303 N. State Road 7 (Gateway Recovery), a business reported a former employee used a company credit card for personal transactions totaling $12,680. Charges are pending.
Narcotics Arrest
Carlos Mejia (DOB 02/23/1999) was arrested near Banks Rd. and W. Atlantic Blvd. after officers found 24.79 grams of cannabis in six packages, 2.98 grams of cocaine in five bags, and a box of empty baggies. Mejia was charged with possession with intent to sell cocaine and cannabis.
Trespass and Warrant Arrest
At 1432 N. State Road 7, officers located Ruben Trevino (DOB 01/11/1975) sleeping under a “No Trespassing” sign. A warrant check revealed an active felony no-bond warrant for petit theft. Trevino was arrested and taken to BSO Main Jail.
Juvenile Domestic Battery
At SW 49th Terrace, juvenile defendant Aiden Mahabir (DOB 01/24/2011) was arrested for aggravated domestic battery, criminal mischief, and violation of probation following a domestic disturbance. He was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC).
