The Margate Police Department responded to a variety of incidents and made multiple arrests between July 1 and 7, 2025. These include retail thefts, narcotics arrests, domestic violence reports, and a shooting at a large gathering.
Retail Thefts and Property Crimes
Retail Theft was reported at U-Haul on North State Road 7. Joshua Langford was accused of taking a dolly and was later located at HCA Northwest Hospital. He was turned over to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Vehicle Burglary occurred at Cube Smart Storage on NW 15th Street. A red and black Honda GS690 8-gallon pressure washer, valued at $4,000, was reported missing from a trailer. The victim said the equipment was last seen bolted to the trailer in April.
Stolen Vehicle: A 2022 blue Lexus RC was reported stolen from a driveway on Ocean Drive. The owner stated that he last saw the vehicle on July 3, before leaving town for work.
Retail Theft was reported at Dollar General on South State Road 7. A man in his 50s, wearing a red shirt and black pants, fled the store with $89 in merchandise. He was last seen walking northbound on State Road 7.
Narcotics and Weapons Offenses
Narcotics Arrest: After witnessing a hand-to-hand drug transaction at the Country Haven Motel, officers stopped a vehicle at North State Road 7 and found multiple drugs and paraphernalia. James O. Clarke Jr. (DOB: 05/14/1980) was arrested and turned over to BSO.
Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm: A witness reported Josue Serome firing a gun into the air on Kathy Court. Officers recovered a firearm and two shell casings. Serome was detained, and a National Instant Check (NIC) was completed.
Controlled Substance Arrest: Ronald Oestreich (DOB: 07/20/1953) was arrested at a plaza on West Atlantic Boulevard following a report of erratic driving. Officers located crack cocaine on the driver’s side floorboard of his vehicle.
Domestic Incidents
Domestic Violence Arrest: Stephanie Lovett was arrested at a gas station on West Atlantic Boulevard following an argument in a vehicle that resulted in her scratching the victim’s face.
Domestic Battery Arrest: Jeniffer Del Rosario (DOB: 07/03/1992) was arrested for battery at a residence on SW 11th Street.
Violation of Restraining Order: Robert Michael Nieto (DOB: 07/28/1978) contacted a protected person via text message in violation of a restraining order. A NIC was completed.
Traffic and Disorderly Conduct
Fleeing and Eluding: Ronald Varela (DOB: 11/07/1996) fled from a traffic stop and crashed while attempting a right turn at Margate Boulevard and North State Road 7.
Hit and Run, DUI: Elmer Isaac Ixtoy Sarat (DOB: 03/21/2002) fled the scene of a property damage crash. Officers observed a piece of the other vehicle attached to his car. He was stopped in Coral Springs and transported to the BAT facility, where his BAC registered .130 and .126. He was medically cleared and turned over to BSO.
Disorderly Conduct: Wesley Moimeme (DOB: 01/13/1997) was arrested after causing disturbances at two businesses near T-Mobile on West Atlantic Boulevard. A victim signed a complaint affidavit.
Warrant and Probation Violations
Capias Arrest: Robert Henion (DOB: 05/29/1979) was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants, including charges for criminal mischief, obstruction, burglary, resisting arrest without violence, and petit theft.
Felony VOP and Drug Arrest: Ira B. Springer (DOB: 01/25/1981) was stopped for riding a bicycle without lights on West Palm Drive. He fled from officers and was found with cocaine. He was charged with resisting without violence, felony violation of probation, and introducing contraband into a correctional facility.
