The city honored the winning units that participated in the Fourth of July parade along Margate Boulevard during the July 9 commission meeting.
Family Knowledge Action (FKA), a martial arts and fitness program, won the private business category, Fellowship Recovery Community Organization won the non-profit category, and the family of Michael Jones, the city parks and recreation director, won the family category.
Alexis Blasenheim, manager for FKA, thanked the city for the award and said, “We loved participating in the parade with our members.”
Sara Barkley, CEO of Fellowship Recovery, said, “We have participated in this parade for the past nine years, and it was good to win.”

The Michael Jones family won the best family unit category for the Margate Fourth of July Parade.
Members of the commission expressed satisfaction with the parade and appreciated seeing families having fun together. “This was a great parade and good for the city,” said Commissioner Tommy Ruzzano.
