Margate families who wanted a safe trick-or-treating experience for their children participated in Trunk or Treat at City Hall on the evening of October 30.
Organized by the Margate police department, all the city’s departments participated. Employees decorated vehicles with Halloween themes and handed out candy to children in costumes as they stopped by.
Police Chief Michael Palma was glad to see children trick-or-treating and building positive relations with police officers. “This is good for the community. Our police officers participated along with the fire department, public works, and others. We all had a good time tonight,” said Palma.
Commissioner Anthony Caggiano was very enthusiastic about Trunk or Treat. “This is a great event for the community, and it promotes police and community engagement. I like seeing kids having fun,” he said.
With his pickup truck bed decorated with tombstones, Commissioner Tommy Ruzzano handed out candy and ice pops. “This is a great event and kids are having some fun,” he said.
Vice Mayor Antonio Arserio brought his four-year-old daughter, Mila, and she enjoyed collecting candy. “This is good because it is a safe environment for kids to trick or treat,” said Arserio.
Members of the fire department handed out candy next to a Halloween-decorated rescue vehicle. Fire Chief Roberto Lorenzo said he enjoyed spending an evening with Margate families.
