Margate Christmas Tree Collection Options

Broward County Chip-a-Tree. {Broward County}

Cities in Broward County are offering residents assistance with disposing of their Christmas trees, making way for the New Year.

The lead initiative is sustainable disposal through Broward County’s annual Chip-a-Tree initiative, where thousands of trees are recycled, contributing to landscaping projects across Broward County Parks. 

This season’s program runs daily through Monday, January 15. 

Below is a list of Broward County parks participating in this year’s Chip-a-Tree program.

Margate

Regular bulk trash tree disposal is available; however, Margate residents are encouraged to participate in the Broward County Chip-a-Tree events. Residents are asked to remember to remove all decorations from their trees and bring them to a participating park. 

There’s a limit of two trees per vehicle, artificial trees are not accepted, and commercial vehicles or garbage trucks are not allowed.

Coral Springs

In addition to the Broward County Chip-A-Tree Program, Coral Springs residents can leave their trees out for bulk pickup. To find your bulk pickup day, refer to the map below.

Multi-family home residents should check with their HOA for specific guidelines. Calling for a tree pickup is unnecessary if it’s collected during the regularly scheduled bulk pickup.

Alternatively, residents can drop off Christmas trees at the city’s Waste Transfer Station on Saturday or Sunday. 

Tamarac

Tamarac residents have many convenient options for Christmas tree disposal. Live Christmas trees can be brought to the Public Services Complex at 6011 Nob Hill Road for recycling. The collection continues from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. through Friday, January 18.

Trees should be set out with weekly bulk waste for residents with curbside collection, however, cutting the trees into sections no longer than four feet is required.

Those residents residing in condos can take advantage of the quarterly bulk collection scheduled for Wednesday, January 3. Coordination with building management/maintenance staff is recommended for proper tree placement.

Lauderhill

In addition to the Chip-a-tree event, Lauderhill residents can place their Christmas trees out for pickup on their regular garbage collection days.

As is the case across the county, residents must remember to remove decorations and, if possible, help the city by safely cutting the tree into smaller sections. 

Coconut Creek

Coconut Creek residents are encouraged to participate in the Chip-a-tree event. To recycle Christmas trees in Coconut Creek, residents are welcome to bring their trees to the Fern Forest Nature Center at 201 Lyons Road before January 15. 

Parkland

No formal announcement has yet been made, but in past years, the City of Parkland has encouraged residents to put out their Christmas trees for pickup on their regular trash day.

The city prepares for these added bulk pickups by arranging extra trucks at the beginning of January, usually between January 3 and January 6.

North Lauderdale

Residents of North Lauderdale are encouraged to set out their holiday trees for curbside pickup on designated yard waste collection days. The complimentary service starts on January 1 and concludes on January 20.

Waste Management will collect the trees placed curbside and transport them to a yard waste processor for composting. To participate in curbside collection, ensure that tree stands, tinsel, lights, skirts, and ornaments are removed from the trees, and refrain from placing the tree in any bag.
