Margate is gearing up for its 23rd Night Out Against Crime, which will take place on August 5, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Sports Complex.
During the May 7 meeting, the commission approved a resolution to support the event and to allow for $70,000 from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund Account.
The Margate police department, in cooperation with the city, will celebrate the Night Out and invite all city leaders, residents and families to the event at the Sports Complex, 1695 Banks Road.
The community-building event is in the planning stage and will include free activities and refreshments for the whole family.
“We will be promoting safe neighborhood activities and neighborhood watch, and would like to provide some crime prevention information and giveaways to raise awareness among the attendees,” said police chief Michael Palma in his request. This family-friendly, free event is a good way to build a relationship between law enforcement and the community.
The recent Margate Night Outs have been big events. In addition to presentations by the city police department, representatives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. military, and Federal law enforcement agencies have participated.
According to Mayor Arlene Schwartz, the event is a major event for the city and the surrounding community.
