A 30-year-old man was shot to death in Margate Monday night, police said.
The homicide happened at an apartment complex at 5740 Lakeside Drive North around 11 p.m. Responding to a call about shots fired at the property, police arrived to find Phillipe Marcellus on the ground, apparently wounded by multiple bullets according to the Margate Police Department.
Paramedics rushed Marcellus to North Broward Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead, police said.
The killer fled the crime scene and was still at large Wednesday night. No further details or physical description was provided by authorities.
“The apartment was secured, and Margate Special Response Team responded to ensure no one was inside the residence,” police said in a news release, referring to their S.W.A.T. Team.
It was not clear what led to the shooting, and no additional details were made public in the case.
The victim’s brother, Steven Marcellus, wrote on Facebook he “was supposed to protect [Phillipe], to show him this life, to love him and tease him.”
“But my brother is gone, now I need him to help me, because I’m missing my little brother and need him to set me free. Please keep my family in your prayers…….cause we need it…He will be missed……this hurts so bad.”
