A Margate man is accused of running over his girlfriend with a U-Haul after a fight over gas money, according to police.
According to a Margate Police arrest affidavit, officers responded to a residence near Pinewalk Drive on June 1 after receiving 911 reports of a domestic violence incident, which led to a victim lying on the pavement and bleeding profusely
Upon arrival, officers found the victim with serious injuries to her foot and took the suspect, Damanley Beaubrun, 21, into custody for questioning.
Police said the victim told officers an argument with Beaubrun began after she asked him to put $60 worth of gas into a rented U-Haul, while he wanted to spend only $20.
The victim told police that she told Beaubrun that she no longer wanted to be with him. According to the affidavit, Beaubrun exited the passenger side, approached her, grabbed her from the driver’s seat, and threw her onto the pavement.
Police said he then got behind the wheel and drove away, running over the victim’s right leg in the process.
Officers documented what they described as a deep laceration and heavy bleeding to the woman’s foot. She was transported to Broward Health North for treatment.
Beaubrun was arrested and transported to the Broward County Jail.
