Incumbents Sweep Margate Election, Pledge to Prioritize City Center Project

Margate voters have reelected three leaders, granting Commissioner Anthony Caggiano, Vice Mayor Arlene Schwartz, and Mayor Tommy Ruzzano another term in office.

On election night, the incumbents celebrated their wins. Each received a decisive majority of votes and shared a united goal: to make Margate’s City Center a community destination.

Caggiano was reelected to Seat 1 with 55.5 percent of the vote.

“The people of Margate have honored me with another term. It is awesome when you win the first time; when you win a second time, it is great. When you win a third time, it is humbling,” he said.

Caggiano thanked every resident who voted for him and the volunteers who worked hard to help him win the election. “I am especially grateful to my ex-wife Assia and daughter Sophia,” he said.

The most crucial goal for Caggiano is to work on building the City Center.

Schwartz was reelected to Seat 2 with 56.4 percent of the vote.

“I am thrilled to have won the election and proud that I ran a clean campaign. I thank all the volunteers and people who voted for me. Win or lose, I knew I could feel good about myself because I did all I could and did not utter a nasty word,” she said.

According to Schwartz, the most essential goal is to build the city center so that it will attract visitors from the surrounding community.

Ruzzano was reelected to Seat 4 with 62 percent of the vote. He was excited about the victory and celebrated with his 8-and-under baseball team members, family, and friends.

“It feels awesome to win, and I thank all the people who voted for me and volunteered for my campaign,” he said.

Ruzzano said he is looking forward to getting to work on the city center. “This will be the most important project for Margate.”
