The North Broward Prep football team defeated Coral Springs Charter 54-32 for the second straight year on Senior Night.
On Thursday, sophomore Deandre Desinor had a historic performance for the Eagles with seven touchdowns, which set a school record previously held by Kevin Austin Jr. He also broke the record for most rushing yards in a game with 301, rushing touchdowns with five and total yards with 477.
“He’s a special kid and is extremely talented,” said Head Coach Rex Nottage. “He runs extremely well and has great vision. I think his off-season training has really shown from last year to this. He has such a bright future ahead of him.”
On the game’s first play, Desinor took a direct snap for a 67-yard rushing touchdown and then scored again in the first quarter from 36 yards to give the Eagles a 13-0 lead. He added a one-yard score and then an 86-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Mason Chapman connected with Caleb Ayala late as the Panthers led 34-12 at halftime before Desinor finished the game with three more second-half touchdowns, including a 90-yard kickoff return for a score.
The Eagles also honored their seniors Zach Vidal, Alex Wigginton, Marcus Dixon, Ben Bullock, Jaden Blackburn, Zandher Mesidort, Graham Mathieu, Michael McGrath, and Jude Rudnick. NBP also evened their record of 4-4 heading into the final two games of the regular season.
“These guys have had their ups and downs with COVID,” Coach Nottage added. “They have some great leadership, and their attitude has been fantastic this year. It’s a special group, and they are just great kids.”
Next, NBP will stay at home for another big matchup on Friday, Oct. 28, when they face Pine Crest. They come in with a record of 6-1, with their only loss coming against Calvary Christian Academy. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
